映画が公開され、人気沸騰中のクイーン。撮影はされたもののカットされた曲が’39です。今日はその解説です。

いやーディストピアですね。地球が荒廃した未来、人が住める惑星を探しに宇宙に旅立って、見つけて帰って来る歌です。

悲しいかな帰って来た地球は何年もの月日が流れさらに荒廃していたという話し。猿の惑星ですね。”Our grandchildren knew”と”knew”過去形なんです。これは切ない。

 

草原で奏でるようなフォークトラッド調なのに歌詞はSFとは粋な演出です。天文学者のブライアン・メイ作詞作曲です。

レコードではブライアンが唄っていますが、ライブはフレディ・マーキュリーが唄っています。個人的にはブライアンが好きです。
